At least 10 people were injured in clash between two groups of Awami League activists on court premises here following previous enmity.
The incident took place on the court premises near Mathpara area around 11:00pm on Tuesday.
Witnesses said the supporters of Refayetullah Khan Tota came to the court to appear in the Baluakandi union chairman Shamsuddin Khan Prodhan killing case while the supporters of defeated chairman candidate Amirul Islam also reached at the court for case related business.
At one stage, they locked in an altercation which later turned into clashes.
Being informed, members of police and armed battalion rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Forty seven people so far have been arrested during the clashes.
Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar police Station, said we are collecting the names and address of the arrestees.
