2 dead, four injured as truck collides with CNG in Srinagar

Two people were killed and four others injured when a truck collided head on with a CNG-driven autorickshaw at Srinagar here Friday morning.

The accident happened at about 7am at Bhuichidra area on the Dhaka-Mawa highway.

Police said a Dhaka-bound watermelon-laden truck from Mawa collided head on with a CNG-run autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction, leaving two people–Habibur Rahman, 44 and Nesaruddin, 35–dead on the spot. Four more passengers of the autorickshaw–Saidur, 35, Hannan, 25, Raja, 40 and Nazir 32–were critically injured and they were admitted to Mitford Hospital in Dhaka.

undefined The deceased Habibur Rahman hailed from village Rashunia under Sirajdikhan upazila and Nesarullah from village Char Gulgulia under Keraniganj upazila.

Meanwhile, body of a young woman was recovere at about 1pm on Friday from Ramergaon area under Munshiganj Sadar Upazila. The woman was identified as Sanjida Aktar, 21, daughter of Shahjahan Khan of the same area.

Police later sent the body to Munshiganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Sadar Police Station’s second officer SI Sultanuddin said Sanjida had allegedly committed suicide in her house as her parents did not agree that their daughter got wedlocked with her fiance.
