A young man died of severe cold at Maowa in Louhajang upazila late Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Alam, 30, a speed boatman by profession and son of Manu Mridha of Maowa.
Louhajang thana officer confirmed his death.
Police and family sources said Alam arrived at Maowa ghat from Kawarakandi on Wednesday evening by speedboat. He fell sick due to bone-chilling cold on way home and fainted.
Locals rescued him and rushed him to his home where he died at night.
Cripling cold spell has been sweeping Munshiganj as elsewhere in the country with minimum temperature recorded 4.2 degrees by Met Office in Jesssore on Thursday morning.
