Body of missing passenger recovered in Padma

The body of a passenger, who along with three others drowned when their speedboat capsized in Padma on Mawa-Kawrakandi route, has been recovered after three days.

The police said that the body of ‘Maniruzzaman’, 25, of Barisal was floating on the river near Lauhajang on Sunday afternoon.

His father Harunur Rashid received the body, Mawa police camp sub-inspector Abu Taher told bdnews24.com.

The speedboat, started from Mawa Ferry Pier-1 for Kawrakandi with 11 passengers onboard, including Maniruzzaman’s mother ‘Rehana’, overturned due to strong streams on Sep 16 around 4.30 pm at Mawa point.

Of them, eight were rescued immediately after the accident.
