12 injured in a clash in Munshiganj

At least 12 people were injured in a clash between two groups of people at Netraboti village in Tongibari upazila over burying a dead body on Sunday.

Local sources said, Abu Syed Sheikh, 60, of the village died of cancer in the morning.

When the family members of the deceased took the body to bury at the local graveyard, a group of villagers led by Jahangir Bepari obstructed them as the deceased did not offer prayers in his lifetime.

Later, he was buried at the intervention of the village elders. But after the burial, family members of the deceased attacked the house inmates of Jahangir Bepari and ransacked the house, leaving 12 people from both sides injured.

Critically injured Jahangir Bepari, his wife, A Rob Sheikh, Abu Mia, Khorshed, Saddam and Mainuddin were rushed to the Upazila Health Complex.

A case was filed in this connection.
