An advocacy meeting on control of TB in the country, especially in the district, was held recently in the office of District Reporters’ Welfare Society in the town.
The theme of the discussion was ‘Role of the teachers in controlling TB’. A total of 45 teachers of different educational institutions were present in the meeting.
The advocacy meeting was organised by NATAB, Munshiganj and it was chaired by NATAB Munshiganj district president Md. Shajalal Choudhury.
Dr. Md. Ehsanul Karim, RMO, General Hospital, Munshiganj, attended the function as chief guest, while Headmaster of Bakultala High School and journalist Md. Mamunur Rashid Khoka of Samakal attended as special guest. Advocate Md. Lablu Mia conducted the meeting.
The speakers expressed their various opinions in curbing TB in the district and elsewhere in the country.
It was disclosed in the meeting that a total of 70,000 people die of TB per year in the country , while a total of three lakh people contract this disease.
The chief guest said that TB treatment is available in all hospitals of the country and urged to all to send TB patients to nearby hospitals or TB centres if cough of any person lasts more than three weeks. He also urged all to complete the TB treatment and take the prescribed medicines properly. TB is not a non-curable disease nowadays if all of us remain alert and change our way of life that is maintain personal hygiene then this disease will leave the country very soon.
