Strengthening power distribution network in Dhaka City is one of the seven projects approved by ECNEC in its meeting today presided by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The projects involved a total cost of Tk 1013 crore, including Tk 307 crore external assistance.
The DESCO project (2nd revised) involves an expenditure of Tk 486 crore, said Planning Division Secretary Mohammad Habibullah Majumder while briefing reporters after the meeting.
Majumder said the size of ADP for next fiscal year will be bigger. “There is a possibility of increasing the next year’s ADP as the current rate of ADP implementation is good enough compared to the previous year.”
He estimated at 39 percent implementation of the ADP in 8 months to February.
The other projects approved are exploration of oil/gas well(revised) at Mobarakpur (Tk 89 crore), protection of Shabazpur Gas field (second revised) from river erosion in Bhola (Tk 123 crore), expansion, renovation and modernization of Bangabandhu Poverty Alleviation Training Complex
(Tk 30 crore), Establishment of Krishibid Institution (Tk 66 crore), Establishment of five Institutes of Marine Technology (IMT) at Munshiganj, Faridpur, Sirajganj and Bagerhat (Tk 192 crore) and water supply project of Chittagong WASA (Tk 27 crore).
